Revision Standard - Superseded. Required procedures for performing design tests for high-voltage distribution-class and power-class fuses, as well as for fuse disconnecting switches and enclosed single-pole air switches are specified. These design tests, as appropriate to a particular device, include the following test types-dielectric, interrupting, load-break, making current, radio-influence, short-time current, temperature-rise, time-current, mechanical, and liquid-tightness.
Make technical revisions, reorganize the standard for improved clarity, and further the harmonization efforts with comparable IEC documents on current limiting and expulsion type fuses.
To consider and implement several needed technicql revisions/additions, such as prospective short circuit current of test circuits, homogeneous series for expulsion fuses, etc. In addition, the document will be reorganized to greatly improve understanding and utility plus harmonize with the latest IEC standards where possible.
