New IEEE Standard - Inactive-Withdrawn. This standard is intended to demonstrate with reasonable assurance that connections meeting these requirements will perform in a satisfactory manner, provided the proper functional class is selected for the application and they are installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
This standard covers connectors used for making electrical connections between insulated aluminum cables rated 601 V through 46 000 V. This standard is concerned with performance requirements for the thermal, mechanical, and current carrying characteristics of connections for the usual buried and in-air operating conditions. In cases where service conditions are unusual, the manufacturer should be contacted for additional requirements. This standard covers connections insulated tapes, field-molded compounds, or with premolded insulation systems.
