Revision Standard - Superseded. Direction and methods for qualifying permanent connections used for substation grounding are provided in this standard. This standard particularly addresses the connection used within the grid system, the connection used to join ground leads to the grid system, and the connection used to join the ground leads to equipment and structures.
The scope of this revision is to make appropriate changes in the areas of corrosion test, pass/fail criteria based on the resistance measurements and electromagnetic force test.
Users of the standards have experienced several difficulties in corrosion using nitric acid. Also, pass/fail criteria is found to be confusing the not practical in many situations. This revision would address these difficulties and appropriate changes will be made.
