New IEEE Standard - Superseded. IEEE Std 32-1972 (Reaff 1990); IEEE Standard Requirements, Terminology, and Test Procedures for Neutral Grounding Devices. This standard applies to devices (other than surge arresters) used for the purpose of controlling the ground current or the potentials to ground of alternating current systems. It defines usual and unusual service conditions, and gives bases for rating such devices. Specifications are given for temperature limitations, dielectric tests, routine tests, losses and impedance measurements, and construction items.
This standard applies to devices used for the purpose of controlling the ground current or the potentials to ground of an alternating current system. These devices are: grounding transformers, ground-fault neutralizers, resistors, reactors, capacitors, or combinations of these.
