New IEEE Standard - Active. Geological hazard survey and monitoring for transmission corridors are introduced in this guide. Geological stability assessment for transmission corridors is discussed, including assessment principles, assessment process, assessment methods and indexes.
This guide defines main assessment methods for geological hazards along and around transmission corridors that threaten transmission lines. This guide mainly covers patrol of corridors, geological survey, monitoring and early warning of geological hazards and geological stability assessment for overhead transmission lines. This guide is applicable to the assessment of geological stability of overhead transmission lines at survey and design, project handover and acceptance, operation and maintenance or other stages. The geological hazards included in this guide are landslides, rockfalls, debris flow, and land subsidence. Geological stability assessment for transmission corridors in tundra is not covered by this guide.
The purpose of this guide is to present methods of geological investigation as well as patrolling and inspection for transmission corridors, and develop approaches for risk recognition and evaluation of danger levels, thereby improving protective capability of transmission corridors against geological disasters.
