New IEEE Standard - Inactive-Reserved. A listing of possible measurement goals related to characterizing quasi-static magnetic and electric fields and possible methods for their accomplishment is provided.
This project describes measurement goals associated with characterizing quasi-static magnetic and electric fields, e.g. power frequency and other extremely low frequency fields, and available methods for accomplishing them. The guide should be used in conjunction with IEEE Std 1308-1994 (IEEE Recommended Practice for Instrumentation: Specifications for Magnetic Flux Density Meters - 10 Hz to 3 kHz), which defines terminology and describes instrumentation, calibration methods, and sources of measurement uncertainty.
The guide compliments IEEE Std 1308-1994 which offers no guidance on performing field measurements. It is intended that the guide fill part of the information gap. The intended users are individuals and groups interested in developing protocols for characterizing quasi-static magnetic and electric fields in different measurement environments.
