New IEEE Standard - Inactive-Withdrawn. Withdrawn Standard. A application program interface (API) to OSI directory services is defined in terms that are independent of any particular programming language. The interface, which supports applications portability at the source-code level, is intended to be used by both applications developers and directory service implementors.
The purpose of this standard is to define an application programming interface (API) to directory services, including, but not limited to, the services described in ISO/IEC 9594: 1990 and the CCITT X.500 Series recommendations (References {5Ð11}) in terms that are independent of any particular programming language.
