Telecommunications and exchange between information technology systems - Requirements for local and metropolitan area networks - Part 1AX: Link aggregation (Adopted ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-1AX:2021, second edition, 2021-09)
CSA Preface Standards development within the Information Technology sector is harmonized with international standards development. Through the CSA Technical Committee on Information Technology (TCIT), Canadians serve as the SCC Mirror Committee (SMC) on ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (ISO/IEC JTC1) for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the ISO member body for Canada and sponsor of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC. For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CSA ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-1AX" throughout. This Standard supersedes CAN/CSA-ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-1AX:16 (adopted ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-1AX:2016). The International Standard was reviewed by the CSA TCIT under the jurisdiction of the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Information and Communications Technology and deemed acceptable for use in Canada. This Standard has been formally approved, without modification, by the Technical Committee and has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope Link Aggregation provides protocols, procedures, and managed objects that allow the following: - One or more parallel instances of point-to-point links to be aggregated together to form a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) so that a Link Aggregation Client can treat the LAG as if it were a single link. - Conversation-Sensitive Collection and Distribution (CSCD) that specifies a means to identify the distribution algorithm in use to assign frames to individual links in a LAG and to convey that information to the System at the other end of the LAG. - Distributed Resilient Network Interface (DRNI) that enables a LAG to terminate at a pair of cooperating Systems in order to provide system-level as well as link-level resiliency.
