Solid biofuels — Determination of mechanical durability of pellets and briquettes — Part 1: Pellets (Adopted ISO 17831-1:2015, first edition, 2015-12-15)
CSA Preface
This is the first edition of CAN/CSA-ISO 17831-1, Solid biofuels — Determination of mechanical durability of pellets and briquettes — Part 1: Pellets, which is an adoption without modification of the identically titled ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard 17831-1 (first edition, 2015-12-15). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CAN/CSA-ISO 17831-1" throughout. This Standard is one of two Standards developed by ISO/TC 238 on Solid Biofuels that are being adopted by CSA Group under the series Determination of mechanical durability of pellets and briquettes, which consists of the following:
- ISO 17831-1, Part 1: Pellets
- ISO 17831-2, Part 2: Briquettes.
This Standard defines a determination method for testing the mechanical durability of pellets. The mechanical durability is a measure of the resistance of compressed fuels towards shocks and/or abrasion as a consequence of handling and transportation. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.
Scope This part of ISO 17831 defines a determination method for testing the mechanical durability of pellets. The mechanical durability is a measure of the resistance of compressed fuels towards shocks and/or abrasion as a consequence of handling and transportation.
