Preface
This is the third edition of No. 83 of a series of Standards issued by Canadian Standards Association under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code and it supersedes the previous editions published in 1948 and 1976. It is written in SI (metric) units. This edition includes the requirements of Electrical Bulletin No. 918A, extending recognition of Trade Size 2 Steel EMT (including elbows and bends) with expanded-end couplings. This Standard was prepared by a Subcommittee of the Technical Committee on Wiring Products under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on CE Code, Part II, and was formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.

Scope

1.1 This Standard applies to electrical metallic tubing fabricated from mild steel, aluminum alloy, or copper alloy intended for use as a metal raceway for the installation of wires and cables in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
