1.1 This test method covers the determination of the coefficient of static friction of corrugated and solid fiberboard or of the materials used to make such board.

1.2 This test method contains the following two methods:

1.2.1 Horizontal Plane Method -The horizontal instrument requires some means of movement of the specimen in relation to the surface upon which it rests. The coefficient of friction is measured directly from the resistance to that force and the applied weight (see 7.1).

1.2.2 Inclined Plane Method -The incline plane is raised until sliding begins. The coefficient of friction is equal to the tangent of the angle at which sliding begins (see 7.2).

1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.

1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of whoever uses this standard to consult and establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
